Call for Applications: Research Funding for the Recruitment of Early-Career Researchers
The Strategic Research Area SFO EpiHealth (Epidemiology for Health) at Lund University hereby announces the availability of SEK 1,500,000, including overhead, to be used for the co‑funding of the recruitment of a postdoctoral researcher, associate researcher, or doctoral student.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are research leaders at the Faculty of Medicine at Lund University or Region Skåne who are affiliated with SFO EpiHealth.
Review Panel
Applications will be evaluated by a review panel appointed by the EpiHealth Coordinator. Conflicts of interest within the panel will be assessed for each individual application.
Evaluation Criteria
The scientific quality of the application will be assessed based on the three core criteria of the Swedish Research Council’s evaluation framework for project proposals (see: https://www.vr.se/soka-finansiering/bedomning-av-ansokningar/kriterier-…):
- Scientific quality of the proposed project
- Novelty and originality
- Feasibility
Based on these criteria, the review panel will assign an overall rating. In addition to scientific quality, the following aspects will be considered when ranking the applications:
Strategic relevance for SFO EpiHealth, in accordance with its Strategic Plan 2026–2030 (see: epihealth.lu.se)
International collaborations
Potential for future development of the project
Complementary/secured funding
Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received funding from SFO EpiHealth, provided that applications are otherwise of comparable quality.
General Conditions
- The managing organisation of the funded application will receive SEK 1,500,000.
- Funds must be used to co‑finance the recruitment of a postdoctoral researcher, associate researcher, or doctoral student.
- Funds will be disbursed once the recruitment has been completed.
- The funding covers both direct and indirect costs.
- Funding for recruitments not completed by 30 June 2027 will be returned to SFO EpiHealth unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Applications must be written in Arial, font size 11, with single line spacing and 2.5 cm margins. The application must be written in English and include a title page, project description, CV, and publication list:
