Newly published article in the International Journal of Cancer

Marju Orho-Melander, professor and deputy coordinator for EpiHealth is co-author of the article "Height, body mass index and prostate cancer risk and mortality by way of detection and cancer risk category" which has been published in the International Journal of Cancer. The study shows that obesity is a risk factor for advanced, but not localized, prostate cancer (PCa) and for poor prognosis.

The study shows a higher mortality rate among obese men in all PCa risk categories and suggests obesity as a potential target to improve the prognosis for obese PCa patients. The study examined height and body mass index (BMI) among 431902 men in five Swedish cohorts.
